Creative Professionals Group Today's my first day at CPG Corp. I'm an Architectural Associate from now on, for at least a year. People: they are really serious people man. hmmm.. makes me wonder if i can blend in well. get to know this guy called Wen Hui who is also quite new (4 mths) and he says that he took a long time to get used to the place and work. damn, he's like such a serious guy lar, if he took so long, me how? not that i'm not serious, i just prefer a more fun environment, like the good old days in Davenport. Only manage to know the people in the design team, and there are lots more in project team. Place: very quiet. everyone focusing on their CADs. damn. What i did: i was practically doing nothing. at first they had something for me, but later took it back from me. plus, my computer password was only revealed to me way after lunch. so i was like stoning in the morning, reading some boring architecture books on the shelves, and dozed off a few times! damn, they must have spotted that! at lunch time, i went to grab 2 pieces of bread and a cup of orange juice at the shopping centre nearby, took a nice good puff. i can't smoke at my office 16th level! lunch time is the only time or i have to take the lift down to do so! and everyone is like seriously doing work, how can you expect me to take smoke breaks like i used to in camp? maybe a good time to cut down eh... =) after lunch, i was told by Gabriel (Principal Architect) that since they have nothing for me at the moment and that i can't log on to my comp, i could go up to the top floor to check out the library. never did i realised it was a tiny library with only like 8-10 shelves? instantly, i thought of the Komura Memorial Library in "Kafka on the shore", and me, Kafka, feeling lonely and all. damn. (pardon the cursing, i had to) The librabrian, a nice middle aged lady, was very er... nice! explaining to me how the library works and chatted with me about where i come from and all. nicest person of the day! i went back at 3pm and got my password. but i was still stoning. "work" ended at 6pm. my official workstation (it's a cubicle! great!) will only be up by early next week. meanwhile i'm using an anonymous comp in the "meeting table" by the shelves in the middle of "nowhere". Conclusion: despite so much complains and uneasiness iin me, it's not that bad after all. look at it these way: serious, but nice people. quiet, but peaceful environment. except for the part where i did practically nothing. isn't first days always like that? imagine i'm gonna work my guts out soon? the sudden change and all? i must be prepared man! perhaps they have planned a shitload of drafting work for me already by tomorrow! easy easy... i can handle this man... just remember to reduce negativity and put in more positivity! whoever's up there, bless me! boh bi, boh bi! the boulevard to a civilian life as of now, i'm already on my path to "freedom". it feels great not having to go back to office, but at times i feel whether it's more constructive to go back work. but even if it's the latter, there is no more work for me! all i can do now is to wait for that official date, while making full use of my time accomplishing things i've yet to do. current upcoming plans: P/S: on national day, every Singaporean will be celebrating for the nation, while i happily scream to myself "ORD LOH!"
